Investor Readiness
What is Investor Readiness?
Investor Readiness is a capital raising term used to describe the degree to which a business and its owners are prepared to bring on investment. This can include, but not limited to:
Knowing the key points of what investors want to know about the investment opportunity
Structuring the business so it can accept external investment
Understanding how to position the investment opportunity so that it has the best chance to attract investors
Creating investment terms that are fair to the business, attractive to new investors, and legal/compliant
Developing an effective investor outreach and marketing strategy.
As a business owner, to be Investor Ready requires a lot of research, time, and preparation. Often this is where experienced professionals can be the most beneficial to your capital raising success.
Why is it important?
Obtaining funding from investors can be a difficult process that is time consuming, disruptive, and stressful. The degree to which a business and its owners are investor ready will influence the length of time it will take to raise the funds (if at all), the costs associated with obtaining the investment, and the terms of the investment.
